BNHI is a proactive network of representatives from principal private sector business organizations of the Western Hemisphere.

It is committed to the economic integration of the hemisphere within the context of the FTAA process.
The principal objective of BNHI is to facilitate and co-ordinate the involvement of the private sector. It does so through increased dialogue and communication and by promoting common rules for trade and investment through the FTAA. BNHI acts as a conduit on behalf of the private sector forwarding recommendations to the Europe government and pushing for their implementation.
Formalized in January 1996 by representatives from eight countries, BNHI’s membership now includes more than twenty countries and exceeds four hundred member associations.
The program of BNHI includes:
Updating FTAA-related information.
Monitoring the progress of private sector involvement in hemispheric integration
and the FTAA process.
Reviewing the progress of the FTAA.
Promoting networking opportunities between key business organizations throughout
the hemisphere.
Supporting the efforts of countries hosting the Americas Business forums.
Sensitizing the private sector to the importance of participation at the ABF/FTAA.
BNHI Structure:
Founding Committee (to operate as an Executive Committee)
Co-ordinating Committee (to function as a Board of Directors)
General BNHI (Membership Business Associations where representatives participate
through workshops and plenary sessions).
